i thought of it kinda like two windows into spaces in time. (but i wanted to keep the images consistent so i used water/swimming) a project i worked on in July while i was in San Francisco. It was shown in a screening along with another one that i'll put up later. (the next one i did on 16mm) i made it using a youtube video ripper and the sound was taken from the footage i found. i also used this site: www.archives.org where you can find/download older stuff (like informational videos from the 60's or WWII news reals). ask if you have questions. -anna ps. NOTE: using headphones makes the sound more intense.

Our project set the lyrics and images of the Queen song, Bicycle Race, to the rhythm of cruiser riding. As particpants rode in circles in front of projections, the act of changing direction released text of the lyrics from the song onto the screen. At the conclusion of the experience, the entire song was revealed from the participant's untethered interaction. This project also saw the development of a wireless Make Controller to provide the untethered experience. This is Part 2 of a short documentary capturing a group photo-blog shoot with a concept of Urban Decay. The location is an abandoned Post Office in Gary, Indiana. We drove down from Chicago very early on a Sunday morning to be safe since the area is shady. I used a Canon HV20 (24p) with Crystal Vision wide lens, Calico Cam stabilizer, and a Manfrotto fluid head on a tripod. None of this video was directed, just capturing the day of events. The audio track is Take Me Into Your Skin by TrentMoller.

Roughly spliced and discolored film from an unknown land and culture would be exhibited. These educational films, though thorough, never felt connected to their subject matter. The only live performance from a series of improvisations I call "Piano Drone". A custom patch created in max/msp is used to manipulate the sound of an acoustic piano which is sampled live. This is from a series of studies I've been doing in minimal movement and gestures. A jitter patch was timed to take a picture of a ceiling fan at the same spot in its rotation every cycle. Theoretically the object should have appeared frozen in place, but due to the speed of my computer at the time and variations in speed of rotation, a much more glitchy video resulted when the frames were reanimated. Here we go with some beautiful audio reactive bubbles based on my previous experiment with toxis vec3D class. Everybody who wants to know how you can achieve things like that should check out flight 404 recent blog entries over at www.flight404.com. Even though I did not implement any of the nice openGL features shown in his examples since I didnt have the time to understand them, you should definately give it a look. this version runs almost realtime even though I used ordinary processing syntax only (appart from the additive blending) music: soulwax - ballad to forget lyrics
