Issue 9 did not pass.
"Don’t you feel that, as a Cincinnatian, you should have a say?"
We do have a say. We elect city council members! We have lots of other things to do with our time than make sure the city is headed in the right direction. So, we elect people that we believe will do just that, and we let them spend their time making decisions and we observe those decisions and if we are not happy with them, we do not elect them again.
Issue 9 was not "anti-spending". Elections and voting costs lots and lots of money. Think about campaign costs? Think about how much money was spent (from both sides) regarding issue 9. We elected city council. We do not need them asking for permission with every decision they make. We can always make our voices heard in plenty of ways but ultimately we elected them to make decisions.
Now, the people have spoken, and we have said "no on issue 9. yes on making decisions. yes on moving forward." woo hooo! -
