I used an Azden ECZ-990 shotgun microphone, a Canon-branded .7x wide angle converter, and a monopod with a ball-head camera mount on the top (so it was much easier to adjust the camera angle).

i totally also have a coulple of those marshall mxl990 microphones - the best deal i ever got at guitar center was on those guys. something i also like is the shockmount for those microphones.
