This is number 3 in a series of tests using a Sony HDR-FX7 camera and two shotgun microphones; Audio-Technica ATR55 and Azden SGM-1X. Using both on camera at different distances and then on a boom (C-Stand). I did this test for myself as well as I was curious of the differences in the two mics. What […]

This is a test of my first attempt at making my own dead cat (some people call them "fuzzies" "rodents" "fluffies" and other things) for my Zoom H4 from faux fur from a fabric store. Commercial units are pretty expensive ($30-170+) for what they are. For $8 I bought two yards of faux fur, enough to make […]

This is number 2 in a series of tests using a Sony HDR-FX7 camera and two inexpensive Audio-Technica microphones; ATR55 and ATR20. Using the ATR55 off-camera a bit and then on a boom stand. Be sure to see test number 1 and the camera noise test videos to see what I mean about camera noise.

I have three HD (HDV) cameras, a Sony HDR-FX7, a Canon HV30, and a Sanyo HD700 (my usually with me pocketcam). I wanted to see how close they were in color so I'd know if I can shoot with them and edit in footage from one with the other.

This is simple test of the Sony HDR-FX7 camera's internal noise level (tape motor, etc.) using the internal mic and an Audio-Technica ATR55 shotgun mic -- on and off camera. Turn the volume up.

This is the Canon HV30 with and without a Audio Technica ATR55 shotgun mic testing to see how much of the camera's noise are picked up with and without the external mic.

A very quick backlit test of the Canon HV30 and a Olympus B300 1.7x lens I bought long ago for a point 'n' shoot still camera. Looking at vignetting and for purple fringing. Shot in full auto, no manual controls, no editing (except the sound).

A few people asked how I liked the Sony VCL-HG0758 lens I use on my Canon HV30 so I decided to do a quick video showing the HV30 without and then with the Sony lens, in that order -- should be very obvious. I like it and, like a lot of others, it's on the camera more than off. Works well throughout the zoom range as well.

Okay, saw and liked Johnny Chung Lee's Poor Man's Steadycam ( http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~johnny/steadycam/ ) and was going to make one when I looked at my barely used monopod. All it needed was a weight and a handle. I used wrist weights and PVC for the handle, this way I can remove the weights and handle […]

A quick water-fast test of my HP Designjet 130 printer. The print was 2-days old, the left side of the print was left alone, the right side was sprayed with Krylon Crystal Clear and let dry for 30-minutes. No editing, this is real time.
