5 days agoPaul Frederick commented on The Last Days of Autumn - A Canon 7D filmThanks Greg. Yes, its completely manual and its impossible to move perfectly smooth. I've seen some other designs that use a threaded rod/crank/dial type device to move the slider part. I think those would work better. The Canon 7D being light helps in some ways, but I still struggle to make a 2'-3' slide with no speed changes along the way.

6 days agoPaul Frederick commented on The Last Days of Autumn - A Canon 7D filmThanks Michael. I have shot ALOT of footage in my life, been at it over 20 years! Once you get a handle on the basics of a camera (exposure, focusing, etc) they are all pretty similar. This one was similar to my EX/Letus combo which I have been using for over a year now.
I read manuals and trade mags for "fun" at bedtime too! :) Can never learn enough about your tools of the trade.
Thanks for the kind words. -
6 days agoPaul Frederick commented on The Last Days of Autumn - A Canon 7D filmThanks Avey! Good to hear from you again. I'll keep checking your page to see if you get some vids posted with your 7D. I think you'll really like the images it's capable of. Takes some getting used too, especially with not having Zebras for exposure. I usually stick my hand into the frame to see if it's blooming or not before rolling.
Cheers! -
