the ink feed was really simple. so simple that i'm surprised it worked so well.
i cut a hole in the cap of a bottle of ink and epoxied a bit of tubing in the hole and then shoved a bit of sponge in the tube. screw the cap back on the tube, turn it upside down, and you've got a nice brush with not much splatter.
