Personal note:
I embark on this journey with nothing but my camera, a couple of primes and my 17-55mm. My heart's drenched in anxiety and excitement, my head pounding with thousands of scenarios projecting onto my inner eye of what can possibly go wrong. Yet, I'm determined. I'm on the train, heading from Berlin Central Station to Paris. In Paris there is a woman. The reason for this journey, the source of my ideas. I want to shoot a music video with her. But I hardly know her. That makes it that much more nerve-wrecking and exciting at once.

As I move back and forth in my seat, I jot down some ideas with Sigur Ros looping on my phone. My hands are sweaty. I need to get up from time to time. I'm restless. Is she worth this trip? Is she going to blush and ruin the whole track. Will I ruin the whole track? Will she drop out last second? Will I chicken out and shoot random shots in the streets with her "walking around"? I can't. I won't allow myself to. Where are we going to shoot? My seat neighbor asks about the notes I take. As I tell him about my plan, I sort of realize how ridiculous it sounds. There's no way back now. The train keeps going...

Initially meant as a submission for the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment initiated by Sigur Rós in the late summer of 2012.

We are honored to present the project film of Symphonie Cinétique - The Poetry of Motion.

This film presents the wonderful journey that media artist Joachim Sauter (ART+COM) and composer Ólafur Arnalds ventured on together at MADE, that culminated with the creation and performance of this interdisciplinary Gesamtkunstwerk.

The dialogue and exchange between these two craftsmen, each coming from a distinctly different discipline, resulted in a majestic clash of light, motion and sound.

Please dive in, let go and enjoy this wonderful moment - Joachim's graceful kinetic pieces breathing and moving in harmony with the touching music composed by Olafur.
