To shave weight, we've moved to more exotic alloys. Instead of the aircraft grade aluminum we normally use, we've opted for a magnesium alloy. This material is 1/3 lower density than aluminum (read lighter) but even stronger. It has the added benefit of even better vibration absorption. It's expensive and dangerous to machine but the benefits are worth it!

You can fly it; or mount it to a crane, slider, skateboard, or anything else you can dream up that could benefit from a super light weight pan/tilt head.

This is Red One Africa's Helix Gimbal affixed to My steadicam.Operating in one Axis it allows one to go from Hi mode to low mode in shot.Pretty neat.Also This Gimbal is hardy enough to take the Red Dragon with a Prime!Top top proper camera and lensing.

We were at a small airport filming an amazing Gyrocopter using our Red Dragon, Letus Helix and SteadiSeg (all available from BeyondHD.tv)
Across the bumpy grass, the SteadiSeg gave us instant track shots (without setup or tracks) and the Helix then stabilised all the bumps. The Red Dragon with Motion Mount then gave us the money shots. Unfortunately we are not allowed to publish the actual footage, but we will continue to work with the Helix and will update soon with more tests and videos.
